AI, Jobs, and the Social Contract
AI is restructuring labour markets, concentrating economic power, and outpacing democratic oversight. This paper argues that the pace, direction, and distribution of AI-driven change are policy choices — not technological inevitabilities. It advances seven principles for democratic management of the transition and a sequenced action framework for governments, with particular attention to labour-surplus economies such as India.
